Louisiana residents were offered half-price admission to the National World War II Museum in July


NEW ORLEANS (Press Release) – Throughout the month of July 2024, the National WWII Museum is offering half-price general admission to Louisiana residents – the perfect opportunity for local visitors to beat the summer heat and see what’s new or experience this world-renowned institution for the first time. Ranked as the top attraction in New Orleans by Tripadvisor and among National Geographic’s top cultural destinations in the world, the museum is a must-see for history buffs of all ages and backgrounds, bringing history to life through immersive exhibits, multimedia experiences and a vast collection of artifacts and personal testimonies.

July is also the last month to see the museum’s groundbreaking special exhibition, Our war too: women in the service of the armieswhich honors the nearly 350,000 American women who answered the call to serve their country during World War II. On display through July 21 in the Senator John Alario, Jr. Special Exhibition Hall, this exhibit recognizes the wartime efforts of servicewomen and celebrates their accomplishments, the impacts of which continue to the present day. Our war too is presented by the Gayle and Tom Benson Charitable Foundation with additional support from Don and Sharon Jones.

In addition to the special exhibit, the museum offers several new ways to explore the American experience in the war that changed the worldright near you. Opening in November 2023, the Liberation Pavilion is a powerful addition to the museum experience that explores the end of World War II, the Holocaust, the post-war years and how war continues to have an impact on our lives today. In March, the museum opened the newly renovated Malcolm S. Forbes Rare and Iconic Artifacts Gallery, which showcases more than 50 artifacts from the museum’s extensive collection – both rare and seemingly ordinary – that symbolize the era of the Second World War. At the heart of the Forbes Gallery is Voice from the Fronta new interactive experience that allows visitors to connect with more than a dozen members of the World War II generation in a way that is both high-tech and personal. Cutting-edge technology facilitates conversations between museum visitors and veterans, home front workers and other witnesses to the war, even after they are no longer with us to share their first-hand stories.

To receive the Louisiana Resident Month discount, visitors must present a valid Louisiana State ID at the museum ticket window from July 1 through July 31. For an additional fee, visitors may also choose to include Beyond all borders, a 4D journey through World War II and the new Freedom Theater experience. The 50 percent discount is limited to four entries per ID. Visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets online. Guided tours of The arsenal of democracy The exhibit, Campaigns of Courage and Liberation Pavilion are also available at a reduced rate of $20 throughout the summer.

Louisiana residents can make the most of their stay at the Higgins Hotel & Conference Center, the official hotel of the National WWII Museum. Located in the heart of the Arts & Warehouse District, the Higgins Hotel is an extension of the museum experience, with period-inspired rooms and suites, exceptional dining and state-of-the-art meeting and event spaces. Discounted rooms for Louisiana residents are available throughout the summer, with rates as low as $125 per night (blackout dates apply).
