Communications and Engagement Department


SAN ANTONIO (July 1, 2024) — City Hall and most municipal offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2024, in observance of Independence Day. Public safety and emergency services will remain operational. Other municipal services will operate as follows:

Police and firefighters

  • The police will be on duty
  • Firefighters and emergency medical personnel will be on duty

General services

  • The 3-1-1 call center will be operational from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. for urgent animal-related issues and traffic light malfunctions.
  • Animal protection officers will be on duty
  • Code enforcement officers will be available for inspections and emergency response
  • Downtown visitors will be able to enjoy an on-street parking holiday (this does not apply to city-operated garages and off-street lots)
  • Outdoor pools will be open Thursday, July 4. Visit SanAntonio.gov/ParksandRec for hours and locations.
  • City parks and trails will be open
  • Limited Fitness in the Park classes will take place

Waste collection and disposal

Household waste, recycling and organic materials will be collected according to regular collection schedules throughout the week.

  • The Bitters Brush location at 1800 Wurzbach Parkway will be closed.
  • All bulky waste drop-off centers and the household hazardous waste drop-off center will be closed (Bitters, Frio City Rd., Rigsby and Culebra)
