Bruins first-round pick set for first season at Boston College

BOSTON — It won’t be hard for Boston Bruins fans to see first-round draft pick Dean Letourneau playing with him at Boston College this fall.

Letourneau met with two of his future Eagles teammates before his first day at development camp. Oskar Jellvik and Andre Gasseau are both entering their sophomore seasons at Boston College. Both made their fourth appearance at development camp.

“I met with them (Sunday) and I talked with them a lot (Monday),” Letourneau told reporters after the first day of development camp. “So they’re great guys, so I’m really happy to be here with them and then I’ll be with them in B.C. next year.”

The 18-year-old will play at Conte Forum with Boston College, located just seven miles from the Bruins’ home at TD Garden.

With the Eagles in Hockey East, Letourneau will have plenty of opportunities to play at TD Garden, including in the Beanpot and Hockey East tournaments.

“That’s what made being picked by Boston even more special, knowing I’ll be back here for B.C.,” Letourneau said. “It’s a great city, so I’m happy to be here for a few years.”

The forward isn’t sure what his role will be at Boston College as a freshman. He just hopes to make the roster and play on special teams during his college season.

“It’s to be determined now,” Letourneau said of his role with the Eagles. “I mean, I hope I can work my way into the lineup and I hope to be on the power play and penalty kill as well.”
