Brandon Nimmo slips in hotel room, cuts forehead during Mets disaster

The healthy Mets had an injury scare before their series against the Nationals when Brandon Nimmo slipped in his hotel room while going to the bathroom in the middle of the night and cut his forehead, manager Carlos Mendoza said.

The outfielder immediately called team trainers and underwent tests at the hospital Tuesday before the game.

The tests came back negative and Nimmo does not have a concussion, Mendoza said, but Nimmo was not in the lineup for the series opener.

“I think we got lucky,” Mendoza said before the game.

But this is the second time Nimmo has suffered a concussion this season.

After a long period of depression following a blow to the head, the Mets sent him for concussion tests, all of which came back positive.

Nimmo, who hit his 100th home run in the Mets’ loss on Sunday, finally managed to emerge from that rough patch and piece together a productive June.
