Hundreds of flags line the streets of Kinsman, Ohio

KINSMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – If you’ve driven through Kinsman recently, you may have noticed all the patriotic displays lining some of the township’s main streets.

There are 124 American flags along Main, State and Church streets. This is the most flags the Kinsman American Legion Post has flown since it began handling flag displays.

The post also partnered with the Lakelands Association to line up 120 additional small flags along the roadway. Most of the flags are paid for through donations. Greg Leonhard, commander of American Legion Post 506 and township administrator, said it’s a beautiful sight to see.

“It’s a way to send a message, I think,” Leonhard said. “Not only to our residents, but to people who come through Kinsman to remind them what our flag represents.”

Leonhard said he hopes the number of flags displayed each year will continue to increase. The flags are displayed from just before Memorial Day until about the second week of August.
