Mom Shares Trick That Helped Her Baby Stop Crying In The Car. Hint: It’s A Selfie!

California mom shares trick to stop rear-facing babies from crying in the car.

“I tried everything: pacifiers, singing, a portable sound machine, her big brother trying to make her laugh, I tried everything,” Ciccone told TODAY.com. “Nothing worked. She just wanted me.”

“I’m pretty sure people driving next to us could hear him screaming,” she adds. “And it wasn’t interrupted.”

Then one day, Ciccone’s husband, Matthew, had an idea.

“I was in the kitchen and he came up to me and asked me to smile, and then he took a picture really close to my face,” Ciccone said.

This photo taken by Matthew is now going viral.

In an Instagram video with over 65 million views, the Ciccones’ 5-month-old daughter sits happily in her car seat, smiling and laughing in front of a large cutout of her mother’s face. She is absolutely mesmerized by the image of her favorite person.

“I took her to physical therapy that day — it takes about an hour each way — and I was absolutely dreading it in L.A. traffic, but she did great,” Ciccone says, noting that Matthew should be an inventor.

“When your baby hates the car but loves your face. Thanks to my husband for printing this terrifying photo,” Ciccone captioned her post.

“Why didn’t I think of this!!! All the other parents are smarter than me,” one person wrote in the comments, to which Ciccone replied, “Why didn’t I think of this sooner? Lol.”

Another addition: “It’s about working smarter rather than harder.”

Other reactions have been observed:

“Sometimes she coos when she sees the picture when we’re in the car,” Ciccone tells TODAY.com. “It’s really adorable.”
