Hawk Tuah’s Daughter Hailey Welch Breaks Silence On New Infamy After X-Rated Music Video Goes Viral

Hailey Welch, better known online as the viral “Hawk Tuah Girl,” has broken her silence after an X-rated comment in a short video clip led to online infamy.

The 21-year-old from Nashville, Tennessee, spoke on the Plan Bri Uncut podcast Monday, weeks after the clip went viral on YouTube and TikTok.

In the short video, Welch is approached by a camera and microphone and uses the phrase “hawk tuah” to describe a sexual act.

She has since capitalised on this interaction by partnering with a Tennessee-based hat company and selling merchandise, including signed caps for $65.

Welch remained largely anonymous immediately after the clip that propelled her to online fame was released, but she has now spoken to Brianna Lapaglia on her podcast.

She told Lapaglia that she was with friends at the CMA Fest music festival when “the next thing I know, there’s a microphone in front of my face.”

Welch confirmed that she had been drinking with friends when she made the lewd comment, but that it was a joke and she “didn’t mean anything by it.”

She also said her parents were not bothered by the video.

“They think it’s so funny…they never know what’s going to come out of my mouth.”

Before Welch spoke on the podcast, rumors circulated about her identity and life, including that she was a schoolteacher who had been fired when the video surfaced and that her father was a pastor.

She has since refuted both claims.

“I worked in a spring factory, I’m not a schoolteacher,” she said.

“My father is so far from being a preacher, it’s crazy.”

She told the podcast that she quit her job following her online fame and now plans to travel the US, do “a show and a bunch of podcasts and everything”.

Along with the wave of fans of the clip, “haters” and “creepy” interactions have arisen, with some duplicating his contact details and creating fake accounts on social media.

She told them, “The people out there who hate me, I don’t even know them. So what do I care?”
