United States Racing Association | Lucas Oil Speedway ready for Thursday Night Thunder

Lucas Oil Speedway returns to Big Adventure RV Weekly Championship Series action this week with a special weekday edition celebrating youth and the Fourth of July holiday.

The annual Casey’s Thursday Night Thunder Kids Night presented by State Tech returns to the track for an action-packed evening. A raffle for kids’ bikes is scheduled for intermission with the region’s largest fireworks display following the races.

Bikes for children ages 5-12 are still required for distribution. Interested parties can bring their bikes to the track office during opening hours or to the pit office before Thursday’s races.

Cash donations to be used to purchase bicycles will also be accepted.

Kids can sign up at the RCR Designs Jr Fan Club table before intermission for a chance to be entered into a drawing for new bikes in various sizes after doors open at 4:30 p.m.

Before the race begins, flagman Mike Striegel will lead a group of kids on a pit tour. Kids can sign up for a chance to participate in the tour, also at the RCR Designs Jr Fan Club table.

Heading into Thursday’s races, the points races are tight in all three classes of the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series.

Jason Pursley of Hermitage leads Fulton’s Ryan Middaught by 14 points in USRA Modifieds; Jaylen Wettengel of Topeka, Kan., leads Lebanon’s William Garner by one point in USRA Stock Cars; and JC Morton of Springfield leads Hermitage’s Eric Turner by 35 points in USRA B-Mods.

Pit gates open at 4:00 p.m., grandstands at 4:30 p.m., hot laps at 6:30 p.m. and races at 7:05 p.m.
