Meet Hezly Rivera, the 16-year-old underdog on the heavily favored U.S. Olympic gymnastics team

MINNEAPOLIS — Hezly Rivera heads to Paris as the youngest member of the U.S. women’s gymnastics team. The 16-year-old earned her spot on the five-person squad by finishing fifth in the all-around at the U.S. Olympic qualifier. Rivera said she tried to adopt an underdog mentality heading into the competition. She responded by holding her own against Olympic champions Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee.
