Barcelona offered chance to sign midfielder for free, player wants €8m salary

Barcelona are looking for a new central midfielder this summer and have identified players like Amadou Onana, Joshua Kimmich and Mikel Merino as some of the options to strengthen the position.

THE BlaugranaHowever, they have not come out of financial difficulties and are still unable to spend money on reinforcements.

As such, the free agent pool could once again be an option for the Catalan heavyweights, having already secured the signings of players like Andreas Christensen, Eric Garcia, Franck Kessie and Ilkay Gundogan on Bosman contracts.

Barcelona have acquired Adrien Rabiot

Gerard Romero now reports that Barcelona have been offered the chance to sign French midfielder Adrien Rabiot for free this summer.

Rabiot is now free from a contract with Juventus, which expired on June 30. The 29-year-old France international has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.

But according to Romero, the midfielder’s mother, who also happens to be his representative, has offered Barca the opportunity to sign the former PSG ace for free in the current transfer window.

Rabiot is a player that the Blaugrana have been linked numerous times in the past and there have been some suggestions that the former Juventus ace could also be an option this year, as a cost-effective option.

Barca have now been offered the midfielder’s services on a Bosman deal, although it is suggested the player is seeking a salary of €8m-a-year.

Given the financial situation of the Catalan heavyweights and the lack of wage margin, the big question remains whether they will be able to meet these wage demands.
