Michael Chandler claims he has been offered a title fight in October against Islam Makhachev at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi

Amid the uncertainty surrounding his failed fight against former two-division champion Conor McGregor, former lightweight title challenger Michael Chandler has earned an undisputed title fight with pound-for-pound number one Islam Makhachev, which was offered to him at UFC 308 in October in Abu Dhabi,

Chandler, the current No. 6-ranked divisional contender, has been sidelined since 2022, most recently suffering a third-round rear-naked choke submission loss to longtime rival Dustin Poirier in the pair’s grudge match at Madison Square Garden.

And scheduled to headline UFC 303 last weekend during International Fight Week, Chandler saw a welterweight clash with former champion McGregor fall through a few weeks later as the Dubliner fractured a toe on his left foot.

Still hoping to share the Octagon with McGregor upon his immediate return to action, Missouri veteran Chandler made the stunning claim that he has received an offer to fight for gold against Russian Makhachev at UFC 308 in the final quarter of this year in the United Arab Emirates.
