Cassie Breaks Silence on Video of Diddy Attacking Her

Cassie Ventura has broken her silence days after disturbing hotel surveillance video showing Sean “Diddy” Combs violently assaulting her in 2016 was released by CNN.

The singer-songwriter posted a statement on Instagram on Thursday thanking those who have since showered her with love and support.

“The outpouring of love has created a place for the younger me to settle in and feel safe, but that’s just the beginning,” she wrote. “Domestic violence is THE problem. It has broken me and made me someone I never thought I would be.”

“With a lot of work, I’m better today, but I will always recover from my past,” she continued.

Ventura then called on the audience to “open their hearts to believe the victims the first time.”

“It takes a lot of courage to speak the truth in a situation where you are powerless,” she said. “I reach out to those who are still living in fear. Reach out to your loved ones, don’t cut them off. No one should have to carry this burden alone.”

She continued: “This journey of healing never ends, but this support means the world to me. Thank you.”

The harrowing footage shows Ventura walking down a hallway leading to the elevator lobby of a floor of the now-closed InterContinental Century City hotel in Los Angeles before Combs finds her, grabs her by the neck and throws her to the ground.

The rapper, who is wearing a towel around his waist in the video, is then seen kicking and dragging Ventura, then pushing her into a corner and throwing an object at her off-camera.

The surveillance video corroborated allegations in a lawsuit Ventura filed against the media mogul in late 2023. The lawsuit contained allegations of repeated physical and sexual abuse by Combs.

The Bad Boy Records founder, whose on-again, off-again relationship with Ventura began in the early 2000s when she was 19 and he was 37, settled her lawsuit against him a day after filing it in November.

Combs’ attorney Ben Brafman said at the time that the rapper “vehemently denies” the allegations.

Combs has since been sued by others who accuse him of committing acts of violence or sexual abuse, among other allegations. In March, federal agents raided properties linked to him.

Two days after the hotel surveillance video was made public, Combs posted a one-minute apology video to his Instagram account, saying he was “disgusted” with himself and took “full responsibility” for his actions in the video.

Ventura’s husband, Alex Fine, denounced the surveillance footage in a statement on Instagram last week, writing, “Men who hit women are not men.”

“Men who enable violence and protect these people are not men,” he wrote. “As men, violence against women should not be inevitable. Watch out for your brothers, your friends and your family.”
