McDonald’s launches new cartoon-inspired garlic sauce

Who knew McDonald’s was such a big fan of anime? Just months after the restaurant changed its iconic logo in homage to the Japanese animation style, it’s launching a new anime-inspired collaboration.

McDonald’s has announced that it will be launching a new sauce called Special Grade Garlic Sauce. This limited-edition dish is the first garlic sauce to be offered in McDonald’s restaurants in the United States. It features notes of garlic and soy sauce, balanced by a slight tangy sweetness.

If you’re ever jealous of McDonald’s products from other countries that don’t come to the United States, you’ll be happy to know that the special grade garlic sauce is inspired by McDonald’s Japan’s popular black garlic sauce.

Special Grade Garlic Sauce is a partnership between McDonald’s and the Japanese manga series Jujutsu Kaisen. The sauces’ packaging will feature eight unique lid designs featuring characters from the hit animated series.

The new sauce will be available on July 9, but you won’t be able to get one just by stopping by your local McDonald’s. The special-grade garlic sauce is an app exclusive, so you’ll have to place your favorite order through the McDonald’s app to try it.
