Charli XCX Changes Message She Left on Brooklyn Wall, Leaving Fans ‘Spooked’ About What It Means for Her New Album

Fans of singer Charli XCX are on edge after she changed her message on a wall in Brooklyn, New York, on Monday.

The singer, who released her album Brat in early June, had previously written the title on a bright green wall in New York to promote the release.

However, Charli, 31, changed the word “brat”, written in black, to say “ok, bye!” in lower case letters.

While the I Love It hitmaker appeared to have officially ended her “kiddie era,” some fans were worried about what the updated phrase could mean for her new album.

On Monday night, Charli reassured her fans with a few tweets regarding this marketing operation.

“Kids’ summer has only just begun,” she said, with a smiley emoji.

The pop star also reposted a media article that reported she had “ended her ‘kiddie’ era,” clarifying that the wall change had nothing to do with the new album.

“Well no, bye brat wall… rip brat wall, you’ll always be famous,” Charli wrote.

Fans had a strong reaction to the mural change, with one responding that Charli had left them “so scared.”

“Uhhh no… Don’t lecture us, we’re not done yet, miss Charli!” tweeted a second.

“What happened to this brat summer…oh my god,” wrote another.

After the English singer reassured her fans, some began to speculate that she might have hinted at what was to come on a possible deluxe album.

“CHARLI ‘OK BYE!’ Is that the name of the album remix or not?” one person asked the singer.

“REMIX ALBUM NOW,” demanded another.

“We can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next,” someone else added.

BIG BRUTAL SUMMER

The Brooklyn wall directly mimics the simple design of Charli’s highly acclaimed album, which simply features a bright green background with the title in black text.

Brat is the artist’s sixth studio album and was released via Atlantic Records on June 7.

Three days later Charli released a little deluxe album with three extra songs called brat and it’s the same thing but there’s three more songs so that’s not the case.

New songs include hits “Hello Goodbye”, “Guess” and “Spring Breakers”, which have a more upbeat, club-oriented vibe than other songs on the album.

Charli rose to fame in 2012 after collaborating with Swedish duo Icona Pop on the hit song I Love It.

She released her debut studio album, True Romance, a year later.

Brat brought him even greater recognition as it was widely praised by critics.
