Women’s basketball team announces transfers for 2024-25 season

DAYTON – University of Dayton Women’s Basketball Team and Head Coach Tamika Williams-Jeter have completed their squad for the next 2024-25 season.
The Flyers added five transfers to the three freshmen who had already committed and the seven returners from last year’s team.

“The new recruits to the Dayton women’s basketball team certainly have qualities that help us diversify our portfolio,” said Coach Williams-Jeter. “They are very experienced, talented and winners. The first three weeks in the gym this summer have been competitive, energetic and have featured a high level of communication. I am very excited to coach this group.”

Dayton enters next season with a veteran roster, but some new faces at UD. The Flyers increased their win total in Year 2 under coach Williams-Jeter and will look to continue that momentum in Year 3.

Here is the distribution of transfer classes:

Shantavia Dawkins – Junior G, 5-8, Brampton, Ontario – Iowa State
Dawkins is a guard with 22 games of experience at Iowa State, a long-time NCAA Tournament participant. The sophomore transfer was a member of the 2021 Canadian Under-18 team and was named a Biosteel All-Canadian and Second Team All-OSBA in 2021. With Team Canada, she helped her team win the Under-18 Americas Championship. In high school, Dawkins was a four-year letterwinner at Southwest Academy in Ontario. She had just as much success in the classroom at ISU, earning two Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Rolls.

Rikki Harris – Graduate, G, 5-10, Indianapolis, Ind. – Ohio State
Harris is another veteran guard who comes from Columbus, where she played 117 games in five years at Ohio State, including 39 starts. The Indianapolis native earned All-Big Ten honorable mention honors in 2023 and was named Academic All-Big Ten and OSU Scholar Athlete four times each. Harris received the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award in 2021 and 2022, and ranked in the Buckeyes’ top 25 all-time in three-point field goal attempts and steals. Coming out of North Central High School, Harris was ranked No. 29 in her class as a five-star prospect and was named All-State four straight years.

Jayda Johnson – South, G, 6-0, Hamden, Conn. – Boston College
Johnson adds a versatile guard to Dayton’s roster after a stint at Boston College in the ACC. A 2023 graduate of Hamden Hall County Day School in Connecticut, Johnson was a standout after spending six years on the varsity team and was the second-all-time leading scorer in program history with over 1,500. She averaged 20 points and nine rebounds per game during her career and was a McDonald’s All-American. Johnson earned All-NEPSAC and All-FAA honors each season and led her team to the NEPSAC Class C championship in 2023.

Ajok Madol – So, G/F, 6-2, Regina, Saskatchewan – Minnesota
Madol played 15 games in her first season in Minnesota and joins the Flyers’ Canadian contingent. A 6-2 forward-guard hybrid, she has experience with the Canadian U17 and U19 national teams and was invited to the senior national team camp in 2021. Madol averaged 29.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game at Archbishop MC O’Neill High School, earning Saskatchewan Player of the Year honours as a senior. She was the Biosteel Canadian Game MVP and her school’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2022 and 2023. Madol has been equally productive in the classroom with multiple academic awards in English, History and Mathematics, while also earning MVP awards in soccer and volleyball.

Nicole Stephens – Graduate, G, 5-7, Pickerington, Ohio – Colombia
Stephens helped her former program Columbia win an Ivy League championship in 2023 and returns to her home state after 61 career games for the Lions. The sharp-shooting guard set career highs last season in points, rebounds, assists, steals and field goal percentage at all three levels. At Pickerington Central High School, Stephens was named to the All-Ohio Third Team, All-District First Team and All-OCC First Team. She was also named to the District 11 All-Star team twice and the Super 12 basketball first team in 2020. She helped her team win the OCC and district championships all four years as well as a state championship and a state runner-up finish. Academically, Stephens was a member of the National Honors Society, a three-time Distinguished Honor Roll and High Honor Roll.
