Motorists shocked by naked man sighting along Belmont Avenue in Liberty Township, Ohio

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) — A man was taken to the hospital after police found him naked along a busy road in Liberty Township.

It was quite a sight for drivers on Belmont Avenue Sunday who encountered a man dancing in the streets, but it’s what he wasn’t wearing that’s causing concern.

Officer: “Very well, he’s completely naked.”

“It’s probably a bit of a traumatic experience for ordinary travelers,” said Capt. Ray Buhala.

Officers were initially called to the area of Belmont Avenue and Churchill Hubbard Road around 7:45 p.m. Sunday for a man in the middle of the intersection yelling at cars.

Caller: “He is unstable and extremely angry.”

When the police arrived, the man was not carrying anything.

Officer: “We’ll just sit in my car. You’re naked.”
Man: “Oh (insult)!”
Officer: “Come here.”

Police body camera video shows the man dancing at one point and yelling at another.

Man: “God is here. The black man is God.

“It didn’t make any sense,” Buhala said.

The video then shows the man jumping up and down with his hands on the front of a patrol car. Officers say he ignored their orders.

“He started acting a little aggressive. The officers used a taser and also had an ambulance attend while they dealt with the man,” Buhala said.

The man was taken to hospital for a psychological evaluation.

“It’s definitely cause for alarm. We weren’t sure exactly what this male was trying to do, but he definitely got our attention and we were able to get him to a location where he could get help,” Buhala said.

As to why he was acting this way, Buhala said it was too early to say.

“It is too early in the investigation to determine the cause of this problem,” he said.

Police said charges are expected to be laid.
