Lorraine Kelly Makes On-Air Blunder By Filing Complaint With Star

During an interview with Bridget Jones star Celia Imrie, Lorraine found herself in a sticky situation.

Lorraine, 64, prides herself on being well prepared before interviewing her guests on her show. However, during Monday’s (July 1) episode, she admitted she wasn’t as prepared as she would have liked.

Sitting across from the iconic Celia, Lorraine had to sheepishly admit that she hadn’t had the chance to read her book, Meet Me At Rainbow Corner, in its entirety. The Scottish TV personality lamented that she wasn’t given enough time to finish Celia’s latest novel.

It was clear that Lorraine was struggling and unfamiliar with Celia’s new book after the author explained the significance of the book’s release date, July 4th.

Celia said: “Thursday will be a busy day but nevertheless it will come out (she pointed to the book) on July 4th because of the GIs, in their honor,” the Daily Star reported.

To which Lorraine replied, “Sure, it makes a lot of sense, Independence Day.”

Rather than pretending to know more about the book, the host chose to admit that she hadn’t had enough time to fully absorb it.

Lorraine confessed: “Meet Me At Rainbow Corner, which comes out on Thursday, and I can’t wait to finish it. I only got it yesterday and I would have finished it by now. I don’t like talking to people until I’ve read their whole book, but I still get that little bit of joy.”

The acclaimed actress, known for her memorable roles in the Bridget Jones saga, Calendar Girls, Nanny McPhee and the two Best Exotic Marigold Hotel films, simply smiled understandingly.

Celia has had a successful career as a star of stage and screen. She has gained recognition for her appearances in the series Bridget Jones’s Diary, Calendar Girls, Nanny McPhee, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, its sequel and the Mamma Mia films, among others.

Lorraine, meanwhile, could barely contain her joy at becoming a grandmother for the first time when she found out her daughter Rosie was pregnant. In a statement to Express.co.uk, Lorraine gushed: “I tell you, there’s no better title in the world!”

She then expressed her shock and joy, confessing: “To be honest, it hasn’t really sunk in yet, but I’m so thrilled,” and sharing her pride, she continued: “I’m so proud of my little girl and she’s got a lovely, lovely partner, and they’re really happy – and I’m going to be a grandmother!”
