Aer Lingus cancels 76 more flights scheduled for next week

Aer Lingus has confirmed that 76 additional flights have been cancelled due to a dispute between the airline and pilots.

The latest cancellations will impact flights that were scheduled from Monday, July 8 to Wednesday, July 10.

The move comes as the airline and the Irish Air Line Pilots Association (Ialpa) are due to appear before the employment tribunal for a formal meeting on Wednesday as part of ongoing efforts to resolve the dispute.

The airline’s pilots have asked for a 24% pay increase, which they say is in line with the rate of inflation since their last pay raise in 2019.

Union members began a work-to-rule strike on June 26, which is still ongoing, and an eight-hour strike was called for Saturday.

The strike led to a series of cancellations that impacted thousands of travellers during the busy summer period.

In a statement released on Wednesday morning, Aer Lingus said the decision to cancel the flights was taken “in order to continue to protect as many services as possible from the ongoing and highly disruptive impact of the ongoing Ialpa strike”.

Aer Lingus is offering free rebooking or full refunds/vouchers to passengers affected by the cancellations, with more information available on the airline’s website.
