Meet Brady Johnson: WVIK’s New News Director

Join host Marc Zyla as he welcomes Brady Johnson, WVIK’s new News Director, on this week’s episode of “What’s Happenin’ QC.” Brady, a recent graduate of Augustana College, shares his journey into journalism and his passion for covering local news in the Quad Cities area. From his first internship at WVIK to his work experiences in Peoria and Bloomington-Normal, Brady’s dedication to highlighting community concerns and accomplishments shines through in his work.

As WVIK’s new news director, Brady said he plans to focus on local elections and important issues affecting the Quad Cities, rather than getting distracted by national politics. He hopes to build a strong news team that will provide in-depth coverage of city council meetings, school board decisions and other important local government issues.

Outside of work, Brady enjoys movies, hiking, and spending time with his two cats, Jade and Jasper. With his enthusiasm for storytelling and commitment to empowering community voices, Brady is poised to make a significant impact on the local news landscape.
