Gogglebox stars Tom and Julie Malone caught in Jamaican hurricane

Two of the stars of Channel 4’s Gogglebox – Tom and Julie Malone – have been caught in the hurricane in Jamaica.

The island is currently preparing for Hurricane Beryl, which is ravaging the Caribbean.

Three people have already died in the storm, now a Category 5 storm: two in Grenada and one in St. Vincent.

Jamaica braces for hurricane

Despite the panic, Tom and Julie filmed themselves on Instagram yesterday, still “relaxing” during their vacation in Jamaica.

“Hello everyone, we are here in Jamaica and it is really hot right now,” Tom said, addressing his fans in a video.

“It’s beautiful, it’s really beautiful,” Julie agreed, before adding, “For now, for now.”

At this point, Tom turned around to give fans a view of their compound.

“Look, all the trees that should be there right now are up. But a storm is coming, you see all those boarded up windows over there? They’ve started to prepare here, but we’re ready for this, aren’t we? We’re from Manchester, we’ve had a bit of wind and rain before, it’s just like a normal day.”

Julie laughed, but nodded with her husband: “We can weather the storms.”

The Malones captioned the video: “It’s relaxing waiting for the calm before the storm. It’s still nice and calm here right now, but the hurricane has been upgraded to a Category 5.”

Tagging their holiday company, they reassured fans: “They assured us they would keep us safe!! So for now we will enjoy and keep you all updated xx See you soon xx.”

Fans share their concern

Gogglebox fans were quick to share their concerns, urging the stars to “stay safe”.

“Cat 5 is scary. Take care guys,” one said. Another commented, “I’ll be praying for you and everyone else.” A third commented, “Stay safe. Make lots of beers in the room lol and charge your cell phones in case they lose power.” “Stay safe, a Cat 5 is no joke!” urged another. “Stay safe, I’ll be taking the next flight home,” commented another.
