The Environmental Management Commission will meet on July 10 and 11

Members of the North Carolina Environmental Management Commission will continue their discussions on regulating toxins in air and water at the commission’s meeting this month.

Commission committee work is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 10. Agenda items include the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s proposed groundwater and surface water standards for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, and a semiannual progress report on 1,4 dioxane in the Cape Fear River Basin.

At the full committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 11, at 9 a.m., members are expected to consider advancing the rulemaking process to revise ambient air quality standards and the periodic review of the administration of the dry cleaning solvent fund.

The meetings will be held at the Archdale Building in Raleigh and will be broadcast online. Webinar information, including the link, as well as meeting agendas and materials, are available on the website.

This commission oversees and adopts rules for several divisions of the Department of Environmental Quality, including the Air Quality, Land Resources, Waste Management and Water Resources divisions.
