Two Pittsfield residents arrested with drugs during traffic stop in Taghkanic

Two Pittsfield individuals were arrested for possession of a large quantity of narcotics in Taghkanic on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

On July 2, around 7:20 p.m., a 2017 Ford Escape was stopped on the Taconic State Parkway for traffic and traffic violations, according to New York State Police.

Police say an investigation determined that the operator, Krista A. Chadwell, 37, and the passenger, Jerome Grandson, 36, both of Pittsfield, MA, were in possession of approximately 28.4 grams of cocaine, 9.1 grams of heroin and more than $2,300 in U.S. currency.

Both suspects were arrested for 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, 4th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and 2nd-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

Chadwell and Grandson were arraigned in Claverack Town Court and released on recognizance to appear again in Taghkanic Court at a later date.
