Photos: The secret room where flight attendants sleep on 777-300ER flights

  • On board Air New Zealand’s Boeing 777-300ER, flight attendants rest in a hidden room above economy class.
  • I explored the secret room with a flight manager on duty.
  • As I walked up the steps to the bedroom, I entered a cramped space with eight beds and storage.

For travelers, long-haul flights usually involve cramped quarters and attempts at sleep.

Passengers aren’t the only ones who can rest. When flight attendants and pilots work long hours, they too take a break, in tiny rooms hidden away in the planes.

On my way back to the US from New Zealand in 2022, I went behind the scenes to get a first-hand look at the flight attendant break room on Air New Zealand’s Boeing 777-300ER.
