Traffic stop leads to arrest of fugitive on murder warrant

Jamison Jashawn Chambers, 25, of Wingate, wanted for murder, was arrested Tuesday in Monroe during a traffic stop, police said.

Chambers was believed to be under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license and having a child in the car.

He was wanted on a Chesterfield County warrant for failing to appear in court on charges of murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and armed robbery.

The officer also found a concealed handgun in Chambers’ home at the time of the arrest, which was located on Interstate 74 near Morgan Mill Road.

Chambers is being held at the Union County Detention Center without bail.

He was charged with several other counts, including drunken driving, carrying a concealed weapon and child abuse, and was served with those arrest warrants.
