Director of explicit sex scene showing erect penis speaks out after controversial moment shocked viewers

Fans of The Dragon House were left speechless after an X-rated scene – and now the director is stepping in to defend his choice.

After what seemed like a lifetime of waiting, we were finally treated to the second season of the long-awaited fantasy drama.

Originally launched in 2022, HOTD precedes the resounding success Game Of Thrones.

It is set at 200 before OBTAINEDto be precise, and tells the story of a civil war – “The Dance of the Dragons” – between Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and her half-brother, Aegon Targaryen, after the death of their father, Viserys Targaryen I.

And while fans are able to deal with mythical creatures like dragons ruling supreme and the prevalence of incest, it seems they set a limit to an erect penis.

The most recent episode, “The Burning Mill,” shows Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) naked, displaying an erection.

You probably want some context.

King Aegon Targaryen II (Tom Glynn-Carney) rushes to King’s Landing’s most prominent brothel with his band of squires, all the while hatching a plan to introduce one of their number, who is a virgin, to one of the women working at the brothel.

But things didn’t go as planned.

The king draws back the curtains of one of the brothel’s rooms and comes face to face with his younger brother, Aemond, who is engaged in an act with a sex worker.

The king then taunts Aemond, who then walks out of the room, completely naked, with an erection for good measure.

Fans were very shocked by the full frontal display.

One person wrote: “Great new episode of The Dragon House but this scene of brothel took me by surprise.”

Another added: “I was actually embarrassed and covered my eyes LOL.”

Director Geeta Vasant Patel has now spoken about this choice in an interview with Variety.

She said: “Ewan is a very good actor.

“He knows what he has to do to embody Aemond. When I first talked to him about nudity, I said, ‘Let’s go through the story. If you’re not comfortable being naked, then you’re not going to be.’”

She added: “Slowly he starts to put on his armour and when he stands up, the fact that he doesn’t care that you see his penis is such a visceral change.

“And so, of course, Ewan said to me, ‘I want to be completely naked in that moment. It’s important to me because that’s what my character is. That’s what he would do.’ And that’s what we did.”
