RWBY, the anime-inspired series, has found a new home with North America’s largest manga licensor, VIZ Media, CBR reported. The move comes after the series faced uncertainty following the closure of Rooster Teeth.

Announced via RWBY’s official “X” channel, showrunner Kerry Shawcross and voice actress Barbara Dunkelman (Yang Xiao Long) shared their excitement for the future of RWBY under VIZ Media. The partnership will oversee production, distribution, licensing and consumer products, hinting at new story possibilities.

“It’s a huge opportunity to expand our audience and grow into the future,” said Kerry Shawcross, showrunner and co-creator of the series. “They’re also really excited to talk to VIZ. They care about where the show is now, but they also care about where it came from. And they want to make sure that we can continue that story.”

Following the closure of Rooster Teeth, the fate of RWBY has become uncertain. According to Rooster Teeth CEO Jordan Levin, the closure is due to significant challenges in digital media, driven by changes in how consumers interact with platforms, advertising, and financial support. VIZ Media’s involvement marks a significant step for RWBY, aligning it with a company that is well-known for distributing manga in North America.

RWBY, known for its unique blend of anime style and 3DCG animation, debuted in 2013 and has since amassed a dedicated fanbase over its nine-season run. The future of the series was uncertain after Rooster Teeth closed its doors, but now fans can look forward to new developments under the guidance of VIZ Media. With this partnership, both the creators of RWBY and fans are optimistic about what’s in store for the series’ next chapter.

Passionate about technology, I try to keep myself updated with the latest developments in technology and gadgets. This includes smartphones or tablets, but also artificial intelligence and self-driving cars, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like to watch videos, read, listen to music or experiment with different recipes. Cinema is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I will probably make a film in the future.
