A week after hosting its only home meet of the season, the Silverthorne Storm gymnastics team traveled to Bison Ridge Recreation Center to compete in the Commerce City Meet on Friday, June 28.

With eight different teams from across the state of Colorado, the Silverthorne Storm continued to produce impressive performances. In fact, every athlete competing reached the podium at least once, and two girls qualified for the state competition.

Kylee Bingham led off the 3A compulsory competition, taking second overall with a total of 31.9 points. Bingham improved her score by taking first on bars and floor while Linora Gilbert placed fourth on vault and beam to take fourth overall (30.2).

In the 3B compulsory competition, Ansley Falconer placed fifth on beam, third on vault and first on bars and floor, earning her third overall in the all-around standings. Susan Oberheide placed second in the 3C compulsory all-around (31.7) and Kyla Cutler finished sixth (29.4).

With second-place finishes on vault, bars and floor, Beckett Watson took second overall in the 3D compulsory competition, while Emilia Gilbert finished in sixth place.

Four Storm athletes competed in the 4 Compulsory competition. As Storm’s only 4B Compulsory competitor, Brooklyn Beckerman placed third overall with a fifth-place finish on vault and bars, fourth on beam and second on floor.

Lily Ford led the way in the compulsory 4D competition, taking second overall, ahead of Danika Barth in third and Eloise Hood in fifth. Hood earned first place with her beam and floor routines, while Barth also took first place with her performance on bars.

At the most advanced level of gymnastics — the options — the Silverthorne Storm remained stoic in their repeated routines, earning more podium finishes.

Avery Dye led the 1A optional competition for the Storm. Dye placed fifth on vault and uneven bars to finish fourth overall with a score of 28.5. Additionally, Skylar Anderson took third on balance beam and first on floor in the 1A optional competition.

Kaylee Karden and Fionna Pennicott both finished on the top step of the podium in the Optional 1B competition. With her first-place finish on uneven bars, Karden placed third (29.3) in the overall competition. With third on vault and beam, Pennicott finished just behind Karden in fourth with a score of 28.55.

Mia Norden shone in the Optional 1C competition, earning podium finishes at every level. Norden placed third on vault, second on bars, and first on beam and floor to win the overall competition with a total of 30.6 points.

Due to her performance at the competition and throughout the season, Norden will move up to the Optional 2 ranks at the next gymnastics competition she competes in.

In their first Option 2A competition, Hannah Eisemann and Claire Kunz earned multiple podium finishes. Eisemann placed third on uneven bars, while Kunz placed sixth on floor, fifth on vault and fourth on uneven bars.

In the optional 2B competition, Emmi Brunner took fifth on floor, third on beam and second on bars to place third overall in the all-around standings.

Ayla Hampton rounded out the competition for Storm, taking third overall in the Optional 3 competition. Hampton placed sixth on vault and bars and third on beam and floor.

The Silverthorne Storm team won two national qualifiers at the all-around competition in Commerce City, with Anderson taking first place and Barth taking second.

With the state gymnastics meet set for July 26-28, the Silverthorne Storm will prepare to attend their final regular competition of the season – the alpine aerial gymnastics meet at Fraser – on Sunday, July 14.
