Tony Khan’s Mistake Indicates MJF Is Ready To Join WWE Before AEW Launches, Veteran Claims

However, in a recent critique of Tony Khan’s booking strategy, longtime journalist Bill Apter suggested that WWE might have been a better fit for MJF. After all, a much bigger event than ever before is on the horizon for AEW. The event, as initially announced, didn’t appear to feature any real heavyweight matches yet, Apter said.

The discussion revolves around MJF’s upcoming match at AEW All In, where he’ll face Daniel Garcia at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium. A rising star in the wrestling world, perhaps. But Garcia isn’t quite at MJF’s level in terms of potential to attract a large audience, Apter said.

Apter criticizes AEW booking

Apter highlighted the incredible difference in top-tier attention between Wembley headliner Daniel Garcia and MJF when he appeared on Sportskeeda’s UnSKripted: “No disrespect at all to Daniel Garcia.

“He’s an incredible pro wrestler and definitely on the rise, but for Wembley it’s going to be Daniel Garcia and MJF, with MJF being the main eventer. Again, no disrespect to Daniel Garcia, but I think MJF needed another big name in front of him and I can’t think of that person unless it’s someone like Bryan Danielson maybe? Or Adam Copeland? I just don’t see that person in AEW right now.” Apter believes MJF could have benefited more from the high-profile bouts due to WWE’s wider range of potential opponents: “If he had gone to WWE, yeah, there probably would have been that early mid-card for him.

But I think it would have given him a lot more options in terms of name value to wrestle against.” The question arises as to what direction MJF’s future might take and whether WWE will ultimately be a part of his journey.

Right now, the wrestling world is rife with speculation about MJF’s potential and whether AEW can make the most of what he has to offer or if, ultimately, it will be WWE that has influence over his future decisions.
