Local softball player Delanie Wisz hosts meetup | College Sports

Delanie Wisz, a Righetti High School and UCLA alumna, hosted a meet-and-greet session for the Orcutt All-Stars softball players at Lakeview Junior High School Monday night.

Players from the Orcutt All-Stars softball teams of various age levels attended the event.

The event was somewhat of a family affair for Delanie Wisz. Three of her nieces play on Orcutt’s age group All-Star softball teams. Averie Torres plays for the Orcutt 12U team, Addison Torres plays for the 10U team and Audree Torres plays for the 8U team.

Wisz plays professional softball for Athletes Unlimited, and she organized the meet-and-greet event shortly before leaving for her new job as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I University of Nevada, Reno.

His Athletes Unlimited team won the bronze medal for the 2024 AUX softball season. Wisz was an assistant coach at San Diego State during the 2023 college softball season.

Wisz played third base and catcher at UCLA and hit 57 home runs during his college career.

Wisz had a stellar career at UCLA. She was a two-time Women’s College World Series (WCWS) All-Tournament selection. Wisz earned NFCA, Softball America and NCAA Division 1 Second Team All-American honors in 2022.

During her time at UCLA, Wisz was also a two-time NFCS West First Team All-Region honoree. She was a second-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2021 and a first-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2022.

Wisz hit .229 with two home runs and eight RBIs for Athletes Unlimited during the 2024 season.

In 2016, the last season for which his Righetti High School statistics were available, Wisz hit .433 for the Warriors as a junior, second on the team behind Jacqui Prober.

As a pinch runner, Prober scored the winning run as UCLA beat Oklahoma in 2019 for the WCWS championship.
