New footage has emerged showing the Sydney Prowler hiding in a building during a series of terrifying crimes.

A massive manhunt continues for the man who robbed and assaulted several women in a matter of hours in western Sydney on Wednesday, with police fearing he will strike again.

New South Wales Police have released new footage showing the man’s face during his crime spree as he wandered through a building, checking to see if doors were unlocked in a hallway.

He opened a door, seemingly using his sleeve to make sure no fingerprints were left on the handle.

He then ran out of the building and across the street.

Police were called by several members of the public about a man trespassing on properties in the Northmead area.

The motive for the attack has not yet been confirmed, but police believe the man is specifically targeting isolated women.

The police have He urged all women travelling on foot to stay on main roads and told anyone who might be approached by him not to resist.

New CCTV footage of the Sydney Prowler has been released, showing it unmasked for the first time
In the video, the prowler is seen prowling a hallway to check if any doors are unlocked before fleeing through one of them and running into a nearby street.

“Property can be replaced, your safety is paramount,” said Superintendent Barry Vincent.

The man was first filmed about 4am on Wednesday burgling several properties in Northmead, near Parramatta.

An hour later, at 5.10am, the same man hijacked a Mitsubishi Outlander SUV while its owner, a 37-year-old woman, was buying petrol at the Windsor Road Servo, near North Rocks.

He then used the car to attack three women, police said.

Police say the man first attacked a 47-year-old woman from behind on nearby Route de Mons at around 5:20 a.m.

She tripped as she tried to flee, and the attacker fled with her handbag.

A 19-year-old woman called police at 5.40am after a figure – believed to be the same man – pulled a knife on her on Junia Avenue in Toongabbie.

After a brief scuffle, he also stole her bag and drove off in the stolen SUV, police said.

Police are searching for the man after he was involved in a series of robberies and assaults in Northmead, north of Parramatta, from 4am on Wednesday.
NSW Police Superintendent Barry Vincent urged women to remain vigilant and told anyone approached by the man to do as he says.

At around 5.55am, a 27-year-old woman was assaulted with a hammer in North Parramatta.

“The woman handed the man her purse and cell phone… and (he) left the scene in the SUV,” police said.

The woman’s family tracked her phone and found the man in a nearby house, but before they could confront him, he smashed the windshield of their car with the hammer.

One of the woman’s relatives, a 27-year-old man, was then attacked before the prowler fled.

The stolen SUV was found nearby and is currently undergoing forensic examination.

Police riot officers and sniffer dogs are now searching for the man.

“I describe this as particularly cowardly, simply targeting women walking alone, in the early hours of the morning, from behind,” Superintendent Vincent said.

The man was filmed burgling several properties in Northmead, north of Parramatta.
Riot police and sniffer dogs joined a massive manhunt for the man

“Although we were unable to locate this offender during the morning, we are concerned that the crimes are continuing.”

The chaos that followed the police search led to the temporary closure of Christ the King Primary School in North Rocks while officers searched nearby for the offender but were unable to locate him.

The man is now believed to be responsible for a series of break-ins in the area last weekend, raising fears he could strike again.

The man is described as being of average build and in his 20s. He was last seen wearing black, with a beanie, balaclava, gloves and a Nike hoodie.

Police say people should not approach him and should instead call police if they see him.
