Shameless paedophile teacher Rebecca Joynes made shocking three-word statement when confronted by police

Footage of disgraced teacher Rebecca Joynes’ stunned reaction after she was arrested for sleeping with children has been released.

The 30-year-old predator was sentenced today (Thursday, July 4) to six-and-a-half years in prison after being found guilty of sexual activity with two schoolboys. Judge Kate Cornell reprimanded the defendant, who preyed on underage students and became pregnant by one of them, for “exploiting” her work for “sexual gratification”.

The court heard that the day before Joynes was arrested she had planned a “date night” with one of her victims, which consisted of an Ann Summers scratch card about sexual activities and rose petals.

Body camera footage of police entering the shamed teacher’s apartment shows the moment Joynes knew she had been exposed.

“Hello, we’re looking for Rebecca,” say two Greater Manchester police officers, to which Joynes replies: “Yes, it’s me.” The officers follow Joynes into her living room where she stands silently with her arms crossed. One officer says: “I don’t know if you know what’s going on, but my colleague has something to tell you.”

The officer, wearing the body camera, takes over and adds: “So obviously, given what happened, I know you were suspended from school today, you’re currently under arrest for suspicion of sexual activity with a child.”

Joynes appears stunned by the accusation and follows up with a three-word statement: “Are you serious?” The video cuts to the Predator sitting in the back of the police van, staring at the ground.

CCTV footage showing the paedophile grooming one of her teenage victims has also been released by police. The grainy footage shows Joynes in a shop with the youngster, who remains anonymous for legal reasons, while choosing a belt for him. She can be seen smiling at him and using her credit card to buy the £345 Gucci accessory.

After being convicted, Joynes was branded a sexual predator by the Crown Prosecution Service. Jane Wilson, senior crown prosecutor for CPS North West, said: “Joynes was entrusted with the responsibility of teaching and protecting children. She abused her position to groom and ultimately sexually exploit schoolchildren. Her behaviour had a lasting impact on them.

“The CPS worked with Greater Manchester Police to build a strong case to present to the jury, including eyewitness testimony, telephone evidence showing messages sent by Joynes and CCTV footage. I would like to thank the victims for supporting the prosecution. Joynes will now face the consequences of his actions.”
