LAPD Officer Shot During Traffic Stop

A person pulled over by police for a traffic stop in South Los Angeles fired shots at officers, leaving one of them with a graze wound Wednesday night, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. near Broadway and West 135th Street in the Willowbrook neighborhood, the LAPD said. The suspect police controlled allegedly began shooting at officers who returned fire, police said.

The shooter was still at large the next morning.

The LAPD did not say why officers conducted the traffic stop.

The other officer involved may have been injured by flying glass from the gunfire, police said, but it was unclear whether the shooter was also shot.

Both officers are in stable condition, according to the LAPD.
