Man Explains What He Saw After Joining Random Dark Web Chat Room To See What Would Happen

There’s a lot to be found on the dark web, some of which is pretty unsavory.

While most of us use the internet almost daily, just beneath our digital feet there is another network of sites and platforms.

Below the regular Internet is what’s called the “deep web,” where websites that aren’t indexed by search engines reside.

This includes things like emails, banking sites, and content that is behind a paywall and can’t otherwise be found through Google.

Within the deep web is another place that only exists on “darknets,” networks that require specific software or permissions to access.

It’s the dark web, and there’s a reason you won’t stumble upon it just by browsing online.

As you may have already assumed, since Dark Web sites are difficult to find, much of the content they contain is highly illegal.

A hacker with years of experience said he’s seen some incredibly crazy things on the dark web, including people saying they “want to see the world burn” and criminals who have encrypted medical data and extorted money from hospitals.

Another said there were “murder for hire” sites and “all sorts of different websites that do horrible things,” advising people not to go there unless they “want to be traumatized or hacked.”

While many stick to the maxim that it’s better not to know, some have ventured in and been disgusted by what they found.

A few years ago, TikToker @austinvro showed his viewers what he had found on the dark web, including “red rooms” which he said are places “where people can pay to watch torture live.”

He then went into a chat room with a stranger who told Austin they were “looking for a fun chat with my girls,” with the TikToker admitting he didn’t really know what that meant but was sure he didn’t want one.

In another dark web chat room, someone else told him they were “25-year-olds role-playing,” leading Austin to say they were “disgusting people.”

There are a lot of disgusting things happening on the dark web, like people being kidnapped and put up for sale on the site, while there are sites that pay people for nude pictures and give out contact information of the people in the pictures.

A 2014 study by the University of Portsmouth found that the most common type of content hosted on the Tor web browser, which is one of the networks that can be used to access the dark web, was child pornography.

The study then found that the most popular type of content was black markets selling illicit goods.
