Manchester United have offered the Euro 2024 midfielder a three-year contract

Manchester United have made a three-year contract offer to midfielder Adrien Rabiot whose contract with Juventus expired on June 30.

The Red Devils are keen to strengthen their midfield this summer and have already expressed an interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte.

Besides Ugarte, they are exploring other transfer possibilities and Nick Semeraro claims the club have offered a three-year contract to Rabiot who is a free agent.

Several other Premier League clubs and Real Madrid are also interested in the Frenchman.

Rabiot was a top target for manager Erik ten Hag in the summer of 2022.

The Dutch tactician personally spoke to the midfielder to convince him to move. A fee was agreed with Juventus, but United refused to meet his £8.5m annual salary demand.

The hierarchy were reluctant to pay him more than £6m a year. Rabiot eventually stayed at Juventus, where he has been a key player with 25 goals in the last two seasons.

Rabiot is currently a free agent after his contract with the Bianconeri expired on June 30. United reportedly offered to sign him for three seasons, but that doesn’t seem to be the right move.

The Frenchman, currently in contention for Euro 2024, will likely command a similar salary (£163,000 per week).

On top of that, he could command a hefty signing-on fee as he is available on a free transfer.

Rabiot could prove to be a good short-term signing, but this move might not work over several seasons. He might soon be past his prime. Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are perfect examples of this.
