Police confirm vocational high school students died playing football in Cakung after being electrocuted by street lights

Cakung police confirmed that a teenager with the initials MWG, who was found dead lying in a field in Pulogebang area, Cakung district, East Jakarta, was electrocuted after holding a lamppost in the field.

“The victim died of electrocution,” Cakung police chief Kompol Panji Ali Candra said when confirmed on Friday (July 5).

Kompol Panji explained that the incident occurred at H. Niun Alley, Bulutangkis Field, RT 010/04, Pulogebang Village, Cakung District, East Jakarta, on Thursday, July 4, around 15:00 WIB.

That afternoon, the victim was playing ball on the badminton court with his other colleagues.

“The victim then held the badminton court lamp in her hand but she screamed for help,” he said.

Several other victims and witnesses then searched for bamboo. After being helped by witnesses with bamboo, the victim was finally able to escape from the lamp and fell.

“The victim’s friend called the victim’s father and when the victim’s father arrived at the scene, the victim was dead,” he said.

The victim’s body was evacuated to his home. According to the results of the inspection carried out by the Cakung police, the victim’s body did not have any violent injuries, sharp or blunt weapons.

“The victim died of electrocution,” he said.

Koban’s parents also said that their party accepted the incident because of a disaster. The victim’s family also refused to undergo an autopsy.

Previously, it was reported that a number of residents in densely populated residential areas were shocked by the discovery of the body of a teenager lying on a sports field in the Pulogebang area of ​​Cakung district, East Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon (July 4).

According to locals, the victim was lying on the ground after being struck by lightning while playing football on a vacant lot during heavy rain. The incident immediately attracted the attention of local residents.

“Go to work, you’ve moved,” said a resident who filmed the teenager lying down.

Several residents informed of the incident immediately went to the scene to confirm the condition of the victim.

Despite the large number of residents, no one dared to touch the victim’s body. The residents simply saw and witnessed the scene.

“The information is playing football again, struck by lightning. (victim) Class 3 SMK has the initials MWG,” he said.

Meanwhile, the police, when confirmed, regarding the incident on Thursday evening, July 4, admitted that they had not received a report and immediately checked the scene of the incident.
