Deadpool and Wolverine star took inspiration from Willy Wonka and a Quentin Tarantino villain

Deadpool and Wolverine star Emma Corrin took inspiration from two very strange characters for her Marvel villain.

Corrin plays Cassandra Nova in the film, and their influences are certainly intriguing, especially because they are so different.

Speaking to GQ, Corrin cited Willy Wonka, played by Gene Wilder, as “one of the best villains of all time.”

“There’s something extravagant about Gene Wilder’s performance,” Corrin added. “And it’s a similar energy to Christoph Waltz in Inglourious Basterds, because he’s wearing a uniform so he can sit down and drink a glass of milk and pretend to be a fucking fairy godmother.”

Waltz played Hans Landa in Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, a Nazi SS officer. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the role, widely considered one of the best villains in cinema.

In Deadpool and Wolverine, the Mercenary with the Mouth will team up with his friend Wolverine to save the Marvel multiverse. Naturally, then, we can expect plenty of cameos when the film comes out, from Loki’s world and beyond.

“Watching them interact with the TVA agents and people who have known the organization since Loki seasons 1 and 2 is a real treat,” Kevin Feige recently said of the lead duo. “The combination of all these different worlds and all these different flavors, and maybe even a few that people won’t know until they see the movie, is a real treat.”
