Megan Rapinoe Stays Silent on Transgender Rights During Pride

Former U.S. women’s soccer midfielder Megan Rapinoe is a vocal advocate for transgender women participating in women’s sports.

That is, apparently, unless she is interviewed by a right-wing journalist. Post-Millennium.

Post-Millennium Reporter Katie Davis interviewed Rapinoe at a Pride parade in Seattle.

“Your U.S. women’s soccer team lost to high school boys. Do you really think it’s fair for those same boys to compete in girls’ sports?” Daviscourt asked.

Rapinoe grimaced and seemed to say “Oh my God” before a security guard stood between Rapinoe and Daviscourt.

“Why should transgender people compete against young girls? Don’t you think they’re going to get hurt? Are they going to get hurt? I’m a journalist, I just want to know,” Daviscourt added.

Rapinoe recently reaffirmed her support for transgender women participating in women’s sports.

“Absolutely,” she told Time magazine. “‘You’re taking the place of a ‘real’ woman,’ that’s the part of the argument that’s still extremely transphobic. I see trans women as real women. What you’re automatically saying in that argument — you’re already kind of giving yourself away — is that you don’t believe these people are women. Therefore, they’re taking the other place. I don’t feel that way.”
