The latest edition of this NWFP fashion house takes inspiration from several cities, including Hyderabad!

Launched in 1954 in the North West Frontier Province, Frontier Raas is today proudly celebrating 70 years of success in the fashion industry. Now led by the third generation of the family, the brand strives to grow its business and preserve the culture of India and its presence in India, Dubai and the UAE. The heritage brand was founded by Bansilal Batra and is led by Anil Kumar Batra and is a favourite of several celebrities including Sonam Bajwa, Malaika Arora, Athiya Shetty, Mukti Mohan and Gauhar Khan. The brand recently expanded to South India with a brand new store in Hyderabad and has just announced its latest collection, Indian AnthologyWe caught up with Creative Director Gaurang Batra to learn more about the latest edition.

What is the inspiration for this new collection?

The new collection, Indian Anthologyoffers luxury solutions for all, adapting to all styles and silhouettes. Inspired by the concept of an anthology – a group of stories – this collection offers a diverse range of designs, including draped saris, ghararas, shararas, lehengas and jacket sets, ensuring an outfit for every taste and occasion. Each piece in the collection embodies the Indian summer aesthetic, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern style. This collection inspired us to go back to the drawing board to develop in-house prints inspired by our patterns and embroideries. Indian Anthology features classic silhouettes with a modern twist. The collection ensures that each garment is not only exquisite, but also offers the highest quality and comfort, making it perfect for various events, from weddings to festive celebrations.

Did you focus on a particular motif in the editing?

We took inspiration from in-house embroidery to create beautiful, intricate floral designs Bandhani patterns. These traditional elements have been carefully developed and incorporated into our prints, resulting in a cohesive and distinctive look for every outfit. Floral patterns capture the essence of summer, while Bandhani The patterns add a touch of traditional Indian craftsmanship.

Your brand is known for its colors, what palette can we expect in this collection?

The colour palette is a vibrant celebration of quintessential Indian colours. We have included a range of vibrant and lively colours such as rani pink, jamunimustard and vermilion, among others. The recent opening of our boutique in Hyderabad played an important role in defining the theme of this edition, as it allowed us to explore the myriad colour traditions from across India.

And what did you do in terms of fabrics and silhouettes with Indian Anthology?

We have carefully selected fabrics that are perfect for summer, ensuring that each piece is both comfortable and stylish. The collection includes breathable and lightweight materials such as sheer organzas and soft nets, which offer a delicate and airy feel. These fabrics not only allow for freedom of movement, but also keep you cool during the warmer months. Additionally, we have selected jumpsuits and gusset silhouettes that enhance comfort and style, making them ideal for summer wear. The combination of these fabrics creates garments that are not only beautiful but also practical for the season, offering a perfect blend of elegance and ease. Other silhouettes in this collection include a range of Indian outfits, including lehengas, ghararassets of jackets, suits, saris etc. We have also included blouses — trendy blouses, deep cut blouses, plunging blouses and sweetheart neckline blouses.

Have you already started working on your next edit, could you share some information about it?

Yes, we are already preparing for the wedding season with our next Taraasa Bridal Couture Launching later this month. Inspired by the timeless elegance of neoclassical sculptures, this collection proudly presents a fusion of classic beauty and contemporary fashion. It celebrates the inherent beauty, strength and individuality of every woman, placing her firmly at the center of our design philosophy.
