Farah Khan reveals producer offered her Rs 10 crore to cast her son in Happy New Year: 'What if Shah Rukh got to know'

Farah Khan has spoken about how a producer offered her Rs 10 crore to star her son in the film Happy New Year, starring Shah Rukh Khan.

Farah Khan, who has been in the film industry for decades, is a wealth of stories. Recently, the choreographer-filmmaker shared that a producer offered her Rs 10 crore to feature her son in the film. Farah recalled the incident and revealed that she had flatly refused the offer, instead choosing Vivaan Shah, the son of Naseerudin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah, for the role.

Farah shared this anecdote during a recent interaction with actor-writer Zakir Khan, whom she invited to her home for lunch. She said, “You won’t believe it, but during the New Year celebrations, a producer offered me Rs 10 crore to cast his son. As ‘Jhansi Ki Rani’, I said, ‘I will never do that.’ I will not do injustice to the film. What if Shah Rukh comes to know that I took Rs 10 crore to cast him in the film? I will never do that. I cast Vivaan Shah for the film because I thought I would cast the person who would be a perfect fit for the character and the film.”

Good year (2014) is Farah Khan’s fourth and final film as a director, after Tees Maar Khan, Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om. This film marks her third collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan. The action comedy was produced by Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment.

Apart from SRK and Vivaan, the film also starred Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Jackie Shroff in pivotal roles. With a total budget of Rs 140 crore, Happy New Year grossed Rs 408 crore at the box office. However, it received negative reviews from critics for its writing and long runtime.
