Klay Thompson’s Heartfelt Message Leaves Lakers Fan Emotional, Joins Warriors Faithful in Grief of Farewell

It’s rare to see a social media commentary singing the same song. There will always be differing opinions, leading to heated arguments. However, this final farewell message from the one and only Klay Thompson has almost the entire world choking! A short but heartfelt and profound note to his beloved San Francisco Bay Area, accompanied by a slideshow of some of the most memorable photos, has even the toughest of them cracking up.

A 13-year marriage finally reached a point where there was no turning back. Despite the criticism and negative comments, despite knowing Thompson would no longer be a Warrior, the news of his trade to Dallas made it all too real. It wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that every Dubs fan was hoping for some sort of repair to this strained relationship.

Yet none of the difficulties of last season alone can cast a shadow over his time in a dynasty that he helped bring back to its former glory. Splash Brothers. One of the best guard duos in basketball history! Suffice it to say, Klay touched on every aspect of his life at Bay in his farewell message. It couldn’t be more perfect!

“Oh Bay Area, there are not enough words and pictures to express how I truly feel for you all. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for the best times of my life. It was such an honor to wear that Dubs jersey from day one. I truly just wanted to be the best I could be and help bring as many championships as possible to the area. The best part wasn’t the rings, it was the friendships I made that will last a lifetime. My family and I want to thank all the amazing people who work tirelessly to make the @warriors organization a world class organization. Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened. Until we meet again. Captain of the Sea, done.”

In fact, it was enough to move the fan of a lifelong rival to tears.

When Klay Thompson Touched His Fans’ Souls…and an Unlikely Candidate

A fan page dedicated to the Lakers, who, let’s not forget, were offered a contract and a chance to stay in California, was just as affected as the multitude of Warriors faithful. “Damn, even I shed a tear” followed by a smiley face with a crying emoji. This is the first time Thompson has spoken about his time with the Warriors since the Mavs news broke. Until then, it was about why he left and how a spectacular era of basketball had just ended.

In addition to the thousands of GSW fans, the comments section also saw the NBA world come forward with words (or emojis) of encouragement. Instead of using words, Sydel Curry-Lee, the sister of the Curry brothers and wife of Suns point guard Damion Lee, commented: “🥺🥺🥺,” deciding that they represented his emotions better than words.

Damian Jones, the Warriors’ 30th first-round pick in 2016, commented: “🙌🏾,” signaling his appreciation for Klay Thompson’s accomplishments and what he has brought to the Bay Area.

Former Warriors legend Andre Iguodala also had some words of encouragement for his brother. “And we’re not done yet!!” But it seems Klay’s friendship extends beyond basketball.

Former baseball pitcher and 2009 World Series champion CC Sabathia commented: “Legend!” New York Jets guard Alijah Vera-Tucker was next on the list and he had quite the compliment for Klay. “Thank you 11! You guys made the whole bay go round. Especially The Town. Still do!! 🫡 🤟🏾”
