Meet Jeremy Simon, Jewish Contestant on ‘The Bachelorette’

Rise up, Bachelor Nation Jews! A new season of “The Bachelorette” premieres Monday, and the show will have at least one out Jewish contestant trying to win Bachelorette Jen Tran’s heart. Meet Jeremy Simon, a 29-year-old real estate investor, seen here sniffing a rose.

According to his bio for “The Bachelorette,” Jeremy is spontaneous, loyal, and generous. He’s definitely a lover, not a fighter. Jeremy cites physical touch as his love language, says he “loves hard,” and enjoys coming up with creative date ideas. One of those creative date ideas? Jeremy says his ideal date to meet the family would be to bring someone home for the Passover seder. Honestly, that’s such a crazy idea that you have to respect it.

Here’s everything we know about him: While Jeremy’s hometown is New York on “The Bachelorette,” it appears he comes from a Jewish family in Connecticut. In addition to his parents Greg and Karen, he has two sisters, Lindsey and Emily. “It’s an interesting journey for my son,” Greg told CT Insider when the casting of “The Bachelorette” was announced.

Jeremy graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in engineering and mathematics. According to his LinkedIn account, he is a member of the Jewish fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi and AIPAC. And, in areas that are not explicitly Jewish but are definitely coded Jewish, he owns an Airbnb in the Catskills. (Yes, the property is seriously called “Morning Wood.”)

Jeremy joins the cast of “The Bachelorette” at a time when “The Bachelor” franchise has begun to feature more out Jewish contestants. On the inaugural season of “The Golden Bachelor,” Leslie Fhima proudly wore her Star of David and even did water aerobics with Hava Nagila. She made it to the final two spots. “Bachelor” contestant Ariel Frenkel gave viewers the franchise’s most Jewish episode in 2023 when she took Bachelor Zach Shallcross to a Jewish grocery store. In the episode, she also talked about her parents’ experiences leaving the Soviet Union because of anti-Semitism. Frenkel made it to the final three spots. And in 2022, NJB Jason Alabaster made it to the final two spots for Bachelorette Gabby Windey, all while wearing a mezuzah necklace.

Of course, being Jewish doesn’t give Jeremy an inherent advantage over Jen. (Although I do agree with this tweet that Jews have an unmatched sense of humor.) But if trends continue, we could very well see Jeremy go far this season. We’ll be tuning in, regardless.
