Emmerdale fans are furious after the ITV soap was cancelled tonight due to football.

The Dales soap opera had already been pushed back to 8.30pm but following a schedule change, with the Spain v Germany match being extended, Emmerdale has been postponed and will therefore not air tonight. However, all is not lost for soap fans as Coronation Street will air tonight at its scheduled time of 9pm, alongside Love Island.

Tonight’s episode of Emmerdale had the synopsis: “Paddy encourages Mandy to apologise, Sarah is furious and Gabby senses something is wrong”, while there will no doubt also be the fallout from Caleb’s confession and Nicky and Suni’s departure last night.

Fans were expecting to see the aftermath of Nicky and Suni’s departure

While we won’t be getting any action from the Dales tonight, soap producer Sophie Roper recently revealed that there are plenty of good things coming to the show. Speaking about what’s to come, she said: “The Dingles have been at the heart of our show for 30 years now, and will continue to be. We recently lost Steve, so we will be commemorating Zak’s passing in the coming months with a Dingle funeral. It’s going to be very difficult for a lot of people who work on the show and obviously for a lot of our viewers who have grown up and loved Zak for many, many years – but it’s going to be a hugely fitting tribute to a great character.

But it won’t all be doom and gloom and there will be some happy stories too when Mandy and Paddy finally tie the knot. She added: “Elsewhere in the Dingle world we have Mandy and Paddy planning a wedding. It’s Mandy and Paddy so it’s going to be great fun. We’ve had Mandy’s dress made in-house by one of our seamstresses. It’s going to be very Mandy. It’s going to be very grand. It’s going to be great fun. So expect a bit of fun in the middle of it all with the Dingle clan.”

Furious fans took to social media to share their thoughts on the delay, with one writing: “They’re always messing with the soap schedules on ITV.” #Emmerdale #Corrie.” A second added: “ITV have given up #Emmerdale last minute but it’s on ITVX.” A third wrote: “#emmerdale no Emmerdale tonight football is a pain give up everything.”
