We could have had it all

Although there are already eight Harry Potter films in the franchise, fans are still clamoring for more, so hearing that this could have been the case is enough to cause some devastation.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the fourth film in the series and is often considered the weakest due to its obvious storytelling, the cutting of important scenes, and the fact that Dumbledore is on the verge of a heart attack throughout the film.

With many fans blaming this situation on director Mike Newell, who reportedly refused to read JK Rowling’s books or watch the previous films in the series, it’s no wonder the film isn’t considered as faithful as the others.

However, it has been reported that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was almost split into two parts. According to screenwriter Steve Kloves, the team “briefly considered doing Goblet of Fire like two films”.

However, they ultimately decided not to do so due to the challenges it would present.

However, fans are unhappy to learn that this could have been the case and have taken to r/harrypotter to share their frustrations.

“Newell was a bad director, splitting the movie in two wouldn’t have saved him,” one said. “He wanted the dragon scene from the first task to be extended and have the dragon burn the forest.”

Another said: “Yes. I think all the movies (four and up) should have been two movies (but released as a double feature, not waiting for part two) OR just kind of like Lord of the Rings and made them extra long movies. The movies (four and up) were huge disappointments to me as a kid because they leave out so much that if you don’t read the books you might not get the story accurately.”

It seems that all possible challenges have been addressed before the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows which was split into two parts. However, it would have been nice to see this done for the previous entries as well.
