Anthony Kim left his fans baffled with a bizarre social media post as the LIV golfer appeared to compare his determination to improve to the relentless pursuit of an addict looking for his next high.

The 39-year-old golfer recently made his return to professional golf this year after leaving the PGA Tour for nearly a decade after being sidelined for over a year with an Achilles injury. Kim has spoken openly about the personal struggles he faced during and leading up to his departure from the PGA Tour.

Since returning to the sport, Kim has been very active on social media and her post on Wednesday morning raised eyebrows among her followers. In a confusing tweet, Kim wrote: “Good morning. Does a crackhead go a day without finding a way to get high? NO. I would know,” followed by a winking emoji.

“He continued, “(I) am not going to let some lunatic outdo me today. 1% better today, less glue!!!” He then tagged a sponsor and included the hashtags “#girldad #gratitude #mental health.”

Despite his motivational messages, Kim’s comeback season has been difficult as he is currently ranked at the bottom of the LIV Golf League standings alongside Hudson Swafford. The 2010 Masters third-place finisher has only managed a 46th-place finish in the six LIV tournaments he has entered, shooting under par just four times.

Upon his return to the spotlight, Kim has spoken openly about his struggles and the role golf has played in his life during difficult times. Speaking to ESPN, he said, “Golf is important to me and not important to me at the same time,” adding, “I’ve had some very dark times. I’ve had some very low times. I’ve felt very alone, even when there were a million people around me. I needed to get my head together and figure out what my purpose was on this planet.”
