Longcor, Brown and Nicholson ready to dominate this basketball season

QUINCY (WGEM) — Team chemistry is key in basketball, and when you’ve grown up with your teammates, that chemistry comes a little more naturally.

“We’ve all played together for so long, so I feel like now that we’re all together, like when we were in middle school, we’ve all worked really well together and having this team back is going to be really good for this season,” QHS shooting guard Myley Longcor said.

Myley Longcor, Jada Brown and Khloe Nicholson have been playing basketball together since elementary school.

Now that Nicholson is heading off to high school, the gang is back together and ready to go again.

“I’m excited, I’ve been waiting a year,” QHS point guard Khloe Nicholson said.

“I just feel like it’s cool to play with her again and continue to play with her over the years, since we played with her when we were little, so I feel like we’re reconnecting with each other,” QHS guard Jada Brown said.

Last year, Longcor and Brown combined to average 24.5 points per game.

With the addition of Nicholson, the Lady Blue Devils should be able to pick up where they left off.

“A couple of them played a ton last year and you know they were instrumental to our success, so I expect them to come in and be more of a leader, even though they’re only sophomores and Khloe’s coming in as a freshman. She’s meshed pretty well with them this summer, and I think all three of them will do a great job,” QHS girls basketball head coach Brad Dance said.

After graduating three starting seniors last year, the dynamic new trio is confident in their ability to improve this season.

“We really practice filling those roles in practice and off the field and all that,” Longcor said.

“Well, we’re young, so I think all we have to do is get tougher and more aggressive and play these older teams, but I think we’ll get through it,” Nicholson said.
