FARGO — Fargo Police and Fire Departments are asking residents to refrain from using fireworks within Fargo city limits after responding to several fireworks-related calls in recent days.

From Wednesday, July 3, through the morning of Friday, July 5, the Fargo Police Department received 120 fireworks-related complaints, a news release from the city of Fargo said. During the same time period, the Fargo Fire Department responded to 10 fires, most caused by fireworks. No injuries were reported.

Possession and use of fireworks within Fargo city limits is illegal, the news release states, and people who violate the ordinance can be fined $100.

Our newsroom sometimes publishes articles under the byline “staff.” Often, the byline “staff” is used when rewriting basic news stories from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, that require little or no reporting. Sometimes, this byline is used when a news story includes multiple authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported information from a variety of sources. If outside sources are used, this is indicated in the story.
