Students block Dhaka-Tangail line for 2 hours to demand cancellation of quotas – University

Students of Mawlana Bhashani University of Science and Technology in Tangail blocked the Dhaka-Tangail highway for about two hours on Saturday, demanding cancellation of the quota system in government jobs.

Students erected a barricade on the highway at 10 am on Saturday in the Nagarjalfai bypass area and removed it around 12 pm after police intervened.

The blockade disrupted vehicle traffic on both sides of the highway, causing huge traffic jams and immense suffering for passengers.

Mohammad Ruhul Amin Sharif, Deputy Commissioner of Tangail Sadar Upazila (Territories), said, “After hearing the news of the blockade, we went to the spot and talked to the students. The students then lifted the blockade peacefully.” source: unb
