Things kicked off this week with house DJ and producer Vintage Culture, the Brazilian taking the reins for the month of July.

“It’s a privilege to share my music and connect with listeners across the UK and around the world on this legendary radio station. I’m thrilled to bring my sound and vision to the BBC and become part of the Radio 1 family.”

NIKS will headline the residency in August, having released her debut EP earlier this year. She promises to share a veritable mosaic of sounds throughout the month:

“I’m really excited to be joining the BBC Radio 1 residency this August,” she said. “Having grown up listening to ‘In New DJs We Trust’, it’s a real honour to be joining this legacy of local DJs and this legendary show. I’m really looking forward to showcasing the different musical facets that have shaped my sound today, from the early 90s to today.”

Things are turning to a real drum’n’bass focus for September, as DJ, songwriter and singer A Little Sound begins her residency slot, which she says has helped her find her own “little sound”:

“Now that I’ve discovered that my sound is deeply rooted in the drum’n’bass scene, BBC Radio 1 have been continually supportive of my journey and I’m so grateful to be able to share it all with them! To go from narrating school plays to now hosting my own residency show is truly surreal and I can’t thank the team at Radio 1 enough.”
