Macron gives victory to the radical left to stop the advance of the conservatives

Finally, the Conservatives had a Disappointing second round of legislative elections In France.

Celebration National Rally (RN, for its French acronym), led by conservative Marine Le Pen, was left as third political force after the president Emmanuel Macron has made a pact with the radical left to halt the notable advance of the right after its victory in the European parliamentary elections and in the first round of national legislative elections.

The results, according to the prestigious newspaper Le Monde, are for the moment as follows: New Popular Front (NFP)which brings together progressives and the French far left, will collect 181 seats remaining the leading political force after having benefited from the boost given to them by Macron.

TogetherThe pro-government option led by Macron himself remains the second political force obtaining some 166 seats.

In the meantime, Conservative RN party disappointed expectationsremaining the third force after winning around 143.

This result is explained by the fact that the candidates of the radical left and Ensemble, in an act of extreme political pragmatism, decided to withdraw from the races in the regions where the right had a chance of winning in the second round, thus leaving the coalition candidate who was better placed to win.

This strategy has enabled anti-RN votes will concentrate on a single candidatean approach that, electorally, was infallible to momentarily stop Le Pen’s party, which appeared to be the loser of the day despite the fact that, according to the polls, won the popular vote with 33% of the vote (five points more than the radical left and twelve more than Ensemble) and that has significantly increased its number of seats in Congress from 89 to about 143.

Is this a real victory for Macron or the left?

Today, political analysts are giving Emmanuel Macron a standing ovation, who, after the RN’s triumph in the European parliamentary elections, took a risky gamble by calling for early elections This could have compromised his political future.

But the results, even though Ensemble only got about 22% of the vote, left Macron in a comfortable situationwho will now have an even more difficult mission: to slow down the radical left, which is currently demanding his resignation after having used his support to remain the leading political force.

In particular, extremists Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader of La France InsoumisePerhaps the most influential group in the left-wing coalition, celebrated the triumph by urging President Macron to “admit defeat” and resign.

“The far right is far from being in the majority this evening (…) The result of the election is the fruit of an extraordinary effort of mobilization,” declared an enthusiastic Mélenchon, who also argued that, if the left succeeded in forming a government,The first step they will take will be to recognize a Palestinian state.

However, the New Popular Front, although victorious, also has its own internal problems since it is a left-wing coalition with socialists, communists, environmentalists and a wide range of groups that have historically been critical of each other and have allied themselves through their anti-RN sentiment.

Given that the distribution of seats is very tight and that the left is far from having obtained the absolute majority of 289 seats, it is plausible that within the New Popular Front, There are factors that want to negotiate a government with Macron.

Meanwhile, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced that he would present his resignation to the president this very Monday, as the government coalition failed to secure a majority. Although this is not a statutory act, it is usually traditional, and the key issue will be whether Macron accepts the resignation or not tomorrow.

Macron’s office said the president was analyzing the election results.

The right questions a “dishonest” alliance

Meanwhile, within the RN, a narrative of relative success is being constructed so as not to lose the momentum of recent electoral triumphs. Its leader, Marine Le Pen, considered that the election had been positive for her party and explained that The conservatives competed alone against the other parties which formed an anti-RN coalition.

In this sense, Le Pen declared that this coalition was composed of all the formations without exception, from LR (centre-right) to the most radical left represented by France Insoumise.

“The tide continues to rise and our victory is now only delayed,” Le Pen assured.

Likewise, his political dauphin, the young rising political star Jordan Bardellawho hoped to become the new French prime minister, criticised the “dishonest alliance” of the far left which “deprived the French” of a victory for the conservatives.

“This evening, these alliances have thrown France into the arms of Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s far left,” he declared.

Radical Left Celebrates by Burning Streets

After the first screenings were known in France, various local media reported that left-wing sympathizers, despite the NFP’s triumph, began to “celebrate” by setting fire to the streets of different cities in the European country while clashing with law enforcement.
