‘Like kids with each other’: Fans enjoy locker room celebrations as A’ja Wilson continues to win MVP, breaks another Aces record

The Las Vegas Aces are finally starting to fire up. The two-time defending champions have built momentum heading into the Olympic break by winning 7 of their last 8 games. And they have A’ja Wilson to thank for most of those victories. Tonight, the reigning Finals MVP left everyone behind in the franchise’s 27-year history to become the all-time leading scorer. While the team has had to change a lot internally to fulfill their mission of three straight games, one thing has remained the same: the love and chemistry from everyone. So, as they celebrate their best player, their fans wish she was there too.

Speaking about her monumental feat, A’ja Wilson said: “It means a lot, really. It’s a special moment.” After the Aces’ 104-85 win over the Dallas Wings, the team returned to the locker room to celebrate the two-time Olympian’s achievement. The official Las Vegas Aces Instagram account posted a clip of the celebration. They captioned the post, “THE FRANCHISE’S ALL-TIME TOP SCORER 👏Sorry @aja22wilson we had to do it 😂☔️”

With 28 points tonight, Wilson now has 4,301 points as an Aces player. She achieved this feat in 209 games and now sits at the top of the list. Adding to the special moment was the fact that Sophia Young-Malcolm, who previously held the record, was in attendance at Michelob ULTRA Arena on Sunday.

At the Alumni Night, she also got to witness history being made. However, nothing can dampen the cheers that Aces fans shower upon the team.

A’ja Wilson and the “not serious” The Aces conquer their fans again!

The confidence that Las Vegas exudes may very well be a reflection of what’s happening between the team’s players off the field. This celebration wasn’t the first time the team showed that they only meant business between the lines. In fact, their energy at media day also proved to their fans that they were “very unserious.” After an exemplary performance, the inner child has made a comeback. An Aces fan took to the comments section to express his love for the team. He also mentioned that this team can enjoy their free time and also get favorable results at the same time.

“The Aces aren’t really serious and I love that lol. They’re having fun and playing ball at the same time.”

Another fan pointed out how childish Becky Hammon’s group was. Time and again, we’ve seen these players tease each other in a respectable but humorous way. Remember when the team let Kate Martin off the bus because she was a little late? And the Hello Kitty bag they gave the rookie? Endearing is definitely the word you can use for Las Vegas.

Becky Hammon was once asked about the trust the team members have in each other. The head coach, who has had great results since she became part of the franchise, couldn’t say much at that time. But we can see that there is nothing wrong with the teammates. A fan also echoed the team’s love for each player. They mentioned how happy and emotional they can feel because of Las Vegas.

One fan simply congratulated A’ja Wilson on her impeccable performance. The veteran had a double-double with 28 points and 10 rebounds. She made 11 of her 22 shots and 3 of her 4 three-pointers. She also leads the entire league in points per game with 26.9 points per game. The Aces fan also mentioned that it was impossible for him to express his love for the team in words.

The Aces may be sitting in fifth place in the standings right now. While their run hasn’t been a walk in the park so far, they are certainly making a comeback to prove their potential. One Aces fan chimed in in the comments section saying that this team and A’ja Wilson are the best in the league.
